First rains ~

The clouds are finding their place, she said,
they are here for the earth's first rains.
The breeze is up to greet them,
my hair is excited and agape.
Everything finds its reasons,
everything is in a state of amaze,
I wind my way through the traffic,
wondering at life's gait.
Put some music on, my love,
something sad, filled with longing,
the gulmohurs bloom without the rain's touch,
and I the living lie parched and wanting.
Why is my first song for the first rains
nothing but a sigh of yearning -
you are there, the song, so is the river,
but each one emptying what's empty.
Stop the car on the kerb, hold me for a while,
help stop the breaking - what's already broken inside.
The rains will come, and the want:
don't save me, but help me survive.
