What's the real reason that toxic leaders keep caring promoted ?
It is organisation culture that rewards that kind of behaviour.
On other hand, organisation policies are equally responsible that imply that even if associate is super sound technically, the only way to reward her or him is by promoting her or him at managerial post (as it is 'perceived' to be of higher status).
Now, what can be done to solve this?
Firstly, apt personality assessment of the associate to determine the most suitable career trajectory that will grow this particular high flyer in most beneficial way
Secondly, for those who identify suitable ones to be shifted to different stream, proper coaching, training and apt support mechanism need to be in place.
Thirdly, at last but not least, the organisation culture need gradual revamp as they acknowledge the problem and make a conscious effort to keep themselves aligned to their core values. So as to reward the correct behaviour and instill the confidence and belongingness amongst associates.
